Short biography of member:
I am junior consultant in Cardiology and Professor of Physiology at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Tirgu Mures, in Romania.
I graduated from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Tirgu Mures in 2008. In September 2009, I started a joint PhD between the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Tirgu Mures, Romania and Université Claude Bernard Lyon I in Lyon, France. I defended my thesis, entitled “Atrial fibrillation – insights concerning the arrhythmogenic substrate”, in October 2012, in Lyon. My PhD thesis was focused on the development and phenotyping of a new experimental model of atrial fibrillation in rats.
After having obtained my PhD degree, I returned to Romania, where I continued my internship in Cardiology and I set the basis of the Laboratory of Cardiovascular Physiology and Pathophysiology at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Tirgu Mureș (https://erris.gov.ro/Laboratory-of-Cardiovascular-1), where I am currently coordinating a young, multidisciplinary research team. Our main area of interest is the study of atrial fibrillation and atrial fibrillation-related aspects.
Since July 2015 I am Academic Secretary of the Vice-Rector for Research at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Tirgu Mures. Since November 2015, I am coordinator of the Functional Explorations Laboratory of the Center for Advanced Medical and Pharmaceutical Research Tirgu Mures (http://ccamf.umftgm.ro/ro/index.php). Since October 2016, I am Professor of Physiology at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Tirgu Mures.
